Question: What's this $6-an-order shipping?
Answer: It's something we're trying out, and are excited about. We unofficially call it "co-op" shipping. It's not free, but it's not expensive, either. Basically, we assume some of the cost of shipping, and you, our dear customers, assume some as well. We fully expect to take on more of the cost, as books are heavy, even with special mail rates (Media, Ground). But as a small business, and one devoted to book accessibility and sustainability, it doesn't make financial sense to absorb the entire cost of shipping - but we are not passing that cost on to you. We are sharing the cost. We are open to changes, though, and are flexible! And we want to be open with you about why we chose this flat-rate price.
Question: Does that mean you want us to buy more books?
Answer: Duh! (But only if that makes sense to you, dear customer.)
Question: What do you mean by "sustainable" shipping?
Answer: We avoid plastics. We re-use boxes (so you might end up with a Libertine-stamped random box full of book treasures). Our mailers are recycled, and we are working towards other forms of shipping & handling sustainability.
Question: When should I expect my books?
Answer: We physically ship out the books 3 times a week (MWF) and use the United States Postal Service, either Media or Ground Mail. Those take up to a week or so, in transit, depending on your geographic distance.
Question: Do you offer faster shipping?
Answer: Not right now, but we will keep it in mind! And to answer why we don't offer it right now, it's simply because we are small, have a small staff, and are committed to a regular pace for everyone. Fast shipping is fun, but good things can, and should, take time, too. :)
Happy reading, dreaming, and living with books!
